Northeast Extension
- Possible skarn deposit with copper-zinc-silver present
- Drill program underway to define resource
Peru Copper has reviewed historic data and has collected new samples from various underground workings north and northeast of the Toromocho deposit within the Northeast Extension, which are target areas for further exploration by Peru Copper. Historic channel assay information has been digitized by Company personnel from a number of underground level maps ranging in elevation from 4,027 metres to 4,620 metres. The digitized channel data amounts to 9,942 assay intervals totaling 20,595 metres of sampling. The average copper, zinc and silver grades of this assay data are: 1.04% copper, 0.67% zinc and 31.3 grams per tonne silver. This data indicates exploration potential in the district for additional copper, zinc and silver, however, this channel data cannot be used to calculate a resource for the Toromocho Project because the sample collection, assay methods and chain of custody of these historic samples are not known. This will be reconsidered once sufficient Company controlled drill data is available to validate this channel assay data.
From July 2004 through mid August 2004, Peru Copper drilled nine holes totaling 3,976 metres in the Northeast Extension. The geologic logging and check assay procedures for these nine new holes are in progress. In addition, Peru Copper has drilled approximately 1,505 metres of core drilling in the Northeast Extension, the results of which are not yet available as of the date of this prospectus.
